Happy Trisomy Awareness day! Today we wanted to share Trisomy 9p warrior Carson's story

Hi! My name is Carson and I’m three years old. I had a heart defect when I was in my mommy’s belly, which triggered some extra monitoring before I was born. My mommy and daddy declined doing any genetic testing in utero because they would love me no matter the outcome of the results. October 10, 2019 was my birthday and I spent 12 days in the NICU. During those days, I struggled with gaining weight and maintaining a normal temp. NICU doc highly recommended testing with all of the minor markers I had going on. Fast forward to December 2019, I was diagnosed with Trisomy 9p. With this particular diagnosis, I will experience some developmental and intellectual delays. My parents are the best of the best - taking me to therapy 3 days a week, making sure I see specialists here locally and Cincinnati Children’s hospital. Even though my parents don’t know much about this diagnosis, they are some of the best advocates for me. They are a ROCKSTAR team and love me with every fiber in them.
